I don’t know how things work in your life, but in mine – if I don’t plan it, it doesn’t happen. It doesn’t matter how much I want it, without a plan even my greatest desires become nothing more than ideas or dreams. They get passed up for the activities, obligations and plans already in place. There’s only so much time in a day. We can’t do everything, but we’re more likely to do it if we plan it. Planning demonstrates our commitment to make it happen.
Think about some of the things we plan
- Daily Living - lunch, meetings, Dr. appointments, car repairs, workouts, grocery shopping, meals, kid's activities, transportation, household chores
- Projects - a new diet, cleaning the garage, fund raising, decorating, landscaping
- Major Purchase – car, house, education
- Special Events - birthday party, weekend getaway, family reunion, graduation
- Life Changers – new church, relocate, get married, attend school, job change, baby, retirement
Planning or lack of planning communicates importance and value, even if we don’t realize it. We all know the pain of forgetting someone’s birthday, not because it wasn’t important, but because we didn’t make a plan to celebrate it. Bottomline, if it’s important and we want to make sure it happens – we plan it!
Why would becoming like Christ be any different?
If living a Spirit filled life, loving others, growing spiritual Fruit and becoming more like Jesus is important to us, we should plan to do it just like we plan to do other important things in our lives. We understand this is a very new and different way to think about becoming more like Christ. It’s requires a paradigm shift and it’s worth it!
A paradigm shift is defined as "an important change that happens when the usual way of thinking about or doing something is replaced by a new and different way."
We created the Spiritual Seeds Planner to help with this new way of living - filled with the Holy Spirit, daily planting, cultivating & growing Spiritual Fruit, becoming more like Jesus. It starts with a deep dive into God’s vision for an abundance of fruit in our life. Then, each month we focus on one Spiritual Fruit turning over the soil in four different garden plots – self, family, vocation, community. Next we ask the Holy Spirit to show us ways to PLANT, CULTIVATE & GROW. Finally, we plan and commit to daily actions for Spiritual growth. Praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit is key. For, it is the Spirit that produces the fruit. We cannot bear fruit on our own.
The Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control. Against such things there is no law and no limit.
We invite you to join us in the garden this Saturday on Facebook Live as we walk thru the planner and share tips for our new way of planning and living a Fruitful life.
Galatians 5:25 (MSG)
Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives..
